I rarely use black paint in my work. Although I am far from a timid painter, I usually gravitate towards vibrant colors. Recently, recurring health issues have cast a shadow over my usually bright and joyful spirit. When I refer to my “sparkly” self, I mean my inner world of joy, light, and resilience. When that sparkle dims, I work diligently to restore it, which is precisely what I did with this painting. I began with black paint but quickly incorporated metallic gold and bronze, followed by white. As I painted, the canvas transformed, and my thoughts shifted from darkness and health concerns to light and sparkle. Over the years, I’ve learned that my paintings are a reflection of my inner world. This is why I feel that each piece carries a part of my heart to its new home.
